Is Yoga good for a devout Christian?

No one denies any exercise can be of benefit to the body. Yoga came from a religious background, and to attain higher Yoga I was told that you need to go and learn to meditate in a cave for the aspirants. There are so many types of spirits in the world, but the Holy Spirit of God is the pure type who resides in the temple of the body. Not every spirit is of God, just because we call deity( any god). I wish you well. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord God !. We are given the free agency to choose whom we will serve, but we may have to live with the consequence of our choice.----Joshua

GOD'S WARNING TO THE WORLD!

On Feb. 22, 1931, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ appeared to this simple nun, bringing with him a wonderful message of Mercy for all humanity.
22nd Feb 1931, A young nun of three years education from a very poor Poland countryside received revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ about God’s Warning to the World on impending events, followed by two other subsequent visits by Jesus to her.
The Divine Mercy Image showed Jesus in white apparel, with the right hand blessing and the other hand on his chest, which issued two big rays—A Pale ray (Water) to make souls righteous, and the red ray symbolic of the life of souls. Both rays were symbolic of the depths of the most tender Mercy of Jesus. He instructed her to inscribe the words
“Jesus, I trust in You”, calling all, sinners to repentance. “The greater the sinner, the greater the mercy.” Jesus said, whose fathomless mercy could even reach out to the sinner whose sins might cover the sands of the earth. “ Do not be afraid to come to me,”as the gate of mercy is now wide open. At his Second Coming, those who rejected his mercy, had to face the gate of Justice. Jesus would not reject or refuse a contrite heart.
She was told to record the messages which amounted to 600 pages in her dairy, and after 20 years the hidden records were later revealed to the world. In 1933, God the Father , the greater light, appeared and earth, while Jesus was nailed between both, meaning God blessed the earth through Jesus Christ. His vision or picture venerated would give promise of victory over enemies, esp. in hour of death when he would stand as Savior, not Justice King, and would preserve families, cities or countries. He would defend the soul as his own Glory.
13 Oct. 1973, Virgin Mary appeared to St. Agnes of Akita and told her if men did not repent or better themselves, the Father would inflict a terrible punishment on humanity, punishment greater than the deluge, such as never been seen before. Fire would fall from heaven and consume the greater part of humanity, men bad or good. The Survivors as desolate, would envy the dead.
If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no pardon for them. June 1981,Virgin Mary appeared to young people in Yugoslavia Medjurgorje, calling people for urgent repentance and conversion. Warnings of chastisement from God, natural disasters, wars, afflictions would fall upon the world but these could be mitigated by prayers and fasting of saints and their repentance.

After all these visions with God's warnings to the world,"Choose ye this day whom ye will serve? ...As for me and my house,we will serve the LORD!" said Joshua...Joshua 24:15.

Christ is the embodiment of all Truths

When Thomas asked Christ how they, the disciples, could know the way; he replied,"I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by me".(John 14:6) Have you ever wondered the importance of this message?
While most religious teachers would show us the way or God, Jesus said he was the way to the Father, the Truth about God,because HE WAS GOD IN HUMAN FLESH, AND HE would give ETERNAL LIFE to those who would believe in his atoning sacrifice and love for mankind.Indeed, Christ is the embodiment of all Truths as He is the Creator of the World and all living things, the Savior of mankind, providing the forgiveness of sins and resurrection of living things, and he is the judge of them all. Albert Einstein said that it was easier to denature plutonium than it was to denature evil from the human heart. God looks at man from the human heart than from his appearance as seen by man. There were also many other
things which Jesus did, which should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. (John 21:25)
John said even the world could not understand ("contain") the books which had written about what Jesus preached and did.

GOOD NEWS FOR BIG BOTTOMS

According to experts at Oxford University," International Journal of Obesity",2010,having big Hips and solid thighs which carryfat to burnslower and hard to shift, releasing beneficial hormones which protect arteries and help sugar control, thus, protect against diabetes andheart disease But fat around belly releases more harmful fatty acids, molecules called cytokines into the body, which trigger inflamation, pointing to diabetes and heart disease. So, being pear-shaped is better than apple-shaped, when the stomach is slim;.
Big hips may also be useful for child bearing.

Babies, Breast-feeding for more than 6 months have lower risk of mental health problems latter in life, According to Research by Telephon Institute for Chd Health Research in Perth. Better to cope with stress and build a stronger mother-child bondage providing lasting benefits, too.

FITNESS FITS THE BODY BUT NEVER OFFEND YOUR FRAGILE ORGANS!

Hi, Friends!

Confucius, the great Philosopher on his discourse on how to live a good life, said: "In life, Never offend five types of persons-- a child,a priest,a beggar,
an elderly person, a righteous man in authority." Someone asked him: "Why these persons in particular?" He replied instantly: "Because they have God on their side."
Confucius lived to a ripe age of more than 75 years, of a tall built.

550 years BC later,Christ said: "Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom of my Father prepared for you from the foundation of the world" (Matt.25:34).
And the KING shall answer and say unto them, Verily, I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
(Matt.25:40)

A descendant of Confucius advocated never abuse yourself through vigorous exercise, take nutritional food and a regular rest and sleep; Your huge body can withstand the extreme exercises but not your heart which should not be overworked.

From my experience I have seen friends succumed to dying rest before 50-60 though in good health of multi-vitamins and seven seas pills and exercises, because they abused and overloaded their own hearts. Some of them collapsed in the midst of the extreme exercises and sweating to demonstrate to their friends how fit fitness was---through bursting of capillaries in their brains. Even your fragile brain and heart need proper rest.

Now, here's a true story ... view the link Ranjan Das who is a healthy young man

What killed Ranjan Das and Lessons for Corporate India.

A month ago, many of us heard about the sad demise of Ranjan Das from Bandra, Mumbai. Ranjan, just 42 years of age, was the CEO of SAP-Indian Subcontinent, the youngest CEO of an MNC in India. He was very active in sports, was a fitness freak and a marathon runner. It was common to see him run on Bandra's Carter Road. Just after Diwali, on 21st Oct, he returned home from his gym after a workout, collapsed with a massive heart attack and died. He is survived by his wife and two very young kids.

It was certainly a wake-up call for corporate India. However, it was even more disastrous for runners amongst us. Since Ranjan was anavid marathoner (in Feb 09, he ran Chennai Marathon at the same time some of us were running Pondicherry Marathon 180 km away), the question came as to why an exceptionally active, athletic person succumb to heart attack at 42 years of age.

Was it the stress?

A couple of you called me asking about the reasons. While Ranjan had mentioned that he faced a lot of stress, that is a common element in most of our lives. We used to think that by being fit, one can conquer the bad effects of stress. So I doubted if the cause was stress.

The Real Reason

However, everyone missed out a small line in the reports that Ranjan used to make do with 4-5 hours of sleep. This is an earlier interview of Ranjan on NDTV in the program 'Boss' Day Out':

Here he himself admits that he would love to get more sleep (and that he was not proud of his ability to manage without sleep, contrary to what others extolled).

The Evidence

Last week, I was working with a well-known cardiologist on the subject of ‘Heart Disease caused by Lack of Sleep’. While I cannot share the video nor the slides because of confidentiality reasons, I have distilled the key points below in the hope it will save some of our lives.

Some Excerpts:

· Short sleep duration (<5 or 5-6 hours) increased risk for high BP by 350% to 500% compared to those who slept longer than 6 hours per night. Paper published in 2009.

As you know, high BP kills.

.Young people (25-49 years of age) are twice as likely to get high BP if they sleep less. Paper published in 2006.

.Individuals who slept less than 5 hours a night had a 3-fold increased risk of heart attacks. Paper published in 1999.

.Complete and partial lack of sleep increased the blood concentrations of High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-cRP), the strongest predictor of heart attacks. Even after getting adequate sleep later, the levels stayed high!!

.Just one night of sleep loss increases very toxic substances in body such as Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Tumour Necrosis Factor-Alpha (TNF-alpha) and C-reactive protein (cRP). They increase risks of many medical conditions, including cancer, arthritis andheart disease. Paper published in 2004.

.Sleeping for <=5 hours per night leads to 39% increase in heart disease. Sleeping for <=6 hours per night leads to 18% increase in heart disease. Paper published in 2006.

Ideal Sleep

.For lack of space, I cannot explain here the ideal sleep architecture. But in brief, sleep is composed of two stages: REM (Rapid Eye Movement) and non-REM. The former helps in mental consolidation while the latter helps in physical repair and rebuilding. During the night, you alternate between REM and non-REM stages 4-5 times.

.The earlier part of sleep is mostly non-REM. During that period, your pituitary gland releases growth hormones that repair your body. The latter part of sleep is more and more REM type.

.For you to be mentally alert during the day, the latter part of sleep is more important. No wonder when you wake up with an alarm clock after 5-6 hours of sleep, you are mentally irritable throughout the day (lack of REM sleep). And if you have slept for less than 5 hours, your body is in a complete physical mess (lack of non-REM sleep), you are tired throughout the day, moving like a zombie and your immunity is way down (I’ve been there, done that L)

*Finally, as long-distance runners, you need an hour of extra sleep to repair the running related damage.

If you want to know if you are getting adequate sleep, take Epworth Sleepiness Test below.

Interpretation: Score of 0-9 is considered normal while 10 and above abnormal. Many a times, I have clocked 21 out the maximum possible 24, the only saving grace being the last situation, since I don’t like to drive (maybe, I should ask my driver to answer that lineJ)
In conclusion:

Barring stress control, Ranjan Das did everything right: eating proper food, exercising (marathoning!), maintaining proper weight. But he missed getting proper and adequate sleep, minimum 7 hours. In my opinion, that killed him.

If you are not getting enough sleep (7 hours), you are playing with fire, even if you have low stress.

I always took pride in my ability to work 50 hours at a stretch whenever the situation warranted. But I was so spooked after seeing the scientific evidence last week that since Saturday night, I ensure I do not even set the alarm clock under 7 hours. Now, that is a nice excuse to get some more sleep.

Unfortunately, Ranjan Das is not alone when it comes to missing sleep. Many of us are doing exactly the same, perhaps out of ignorance. Please forward this mail to as many of your colleagues as possible, especially those who might be short-changing their sleep.

***If we can save even one young life because of this email, I would be the happiest person on earth.
